Thank you Coco Chanel for giving us freedom of movement! Palazzo pants are back in style this spring. Palazzo pants have periodically been reintroduced into fashion from the 1930’s famous Hollywood actresses to the Hippie era. Elegance From Another Era – How Would You Wear Them Today?

In 2012, a dress that was designed by Raf Simons was displayed at the Fashion Museum in Bath, England as the “Dress of the Year”. “It was an idea of bringing a more dynamic and young element to couture in quite a literal way. By young I do not necessarily mean age. It is about how a woman reacts in our society today.Her grandmother might have been a couture client in the fifties or sixties but what would she do with one of her grandmother’s ball-gowns today? Crochet and Lace for Spring [three romantic dresses from Venus catalog]

A couple of weeks ago, I received a catalog in the mail from “Venus”. I don’t remember getting one in a very long time and never really paid attention to it because I found their clothes to be too “extravagant” for my lifestyle. I was pleasantly surprised to see that this time they included some items that I thought they were more conservative. I chose three dresses that kept up with the crochet and lace trend that it seemed to still be going on with the warm weather and appropriate with the feminine and romantic style that I liked.

A Little Bit of Fashion [Fashion Museum, Bath, England]

Every year, a selected fashion expert gets to choose a dress or outfit that will be donated by its designer and makes history as part of the “Dress of the Year” collection at the Fashion Museum in Bath, England. Kate Phelan of British Vogue will select the dress for 2016. The Dress of the Year 2016 will be announced and go on display at the Fashion Museum during February 2017 (Museum news).
